ABATE of Washington Welcome to Washington

Coordinators Report - February 2010

by Webmaster 15. February 2010 04:55

As of today, ABATE of Washington is making history in Olympia.  Our Black Thursday was more successful than ever.  HB 2511, addressing motorcycle profiling has made it out of the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee and the House Rules committee.  (On our website www.abate-wa.org ) you can view the testimony given by our LAO Donnie “Breeze” Landsman and “Double D” David Devereaux, from the US Defenders, Washington State.    We are hoping it will make it to a vote on the House floor before the deadline and close of the Legislature this year.   This is a short session for our Legislature.  Our issues regarding reduced Tolls have had a hearing and are being discussed by the State Senate, Transportation Committee.  John Lawson LAO for the ABATE of Washington, South King County Chapter, is recognized for his work on this and the Transponders used for motorcycle tolling.  More to follow next Newsletter.

Our newsletter Editor for our A B A T E Newsletter- (Fight for Your) Freedom publication resigned recently.  Due to the logistics to recover the property of A B A T E of Washington, and Newsletter information the Newsletter is out late this month.  The March issue will be out as normal.

Ron Fryer, our previous Editor has volunteered to take over as Editor.   He wants to make it a committee, if you are interested in serving on the Newsletter Committee please contact Ron.  Please send any Reports, articles, etc. to the same contact information as posted in the newsletter.

I have been notified by Don Cuda that he has withdrawn as a candidate for the Westside Deputy Coordinator position and Public Relations Officer, for health reasons.    Don indicated he will be around to support ABATE of Washington and plans to be back when he is doing better.  Don has done a great job in P.R. One of his great PR ideas was to pay to get it right.  Thank Don when you see him, Great job, well done, Don!!!

NCOM Ambassador and Bylaws Committee Chair, positions will be filled in the near future.  Chris Dulas has resigned from his many positions and has withdrawn as a Candidate for State Coordinator.  Chris has done a lot of work for ABATE of Washington over the years.  I thank him for his service to ABATE over the years, he has given a lot to our organization.

We have many individuals ready to step forward.  If you are interested in a position please contact the State Coordinator.  We will follow our By-laws to fill the positions.

I thank all of you for your support during this change. I want to especially thank, Ron Fryer for stepping up to be Editor, Dutch Phillips, West Side Deputy Coordinator, and Mike Campbell, Ambassador at Large and the rest of the Board for their help in completing this change.

Our future is bright and we have many challenges ahead.

Lets “Get Er done”

Mick Gillispie
