Hi Everybody:
Once again Western Washington has flooded people out of their homes. Sorry to hear of this news and hope everyone is ok. This one was a 100-year flood. The third one in seventeen years. Go figure.
If you've visited our chapter website then you know Blender won the Tattered Flag on November 10th. We had 19 bikes and 27 people on the run. Six people were from EPCC and that helped with the side pot of $54. I won the pot and Blender has the honor of picking the starting point for the next Tattered Flag Run on May 17, 2008. Can you believe it's 2008 already?
I must apologize to the Chapter for missing the 30th Annual Olympia Toy Run on December 1, 2007. Pam and I had a funeral to attend. I have always enjoyed this run and hope to attend next year. The 50/50 drawn at this run raised money for the YWCA Women's Shelter, the beneficiary of our Chapter Toy Run. $4022 was raised from 50/50 ticket sales and three lucky winners shared $2011, while the other $2011 went to the shelter. Congrads to the winners. Thank You Deb Coyle and Debby Meier for all the hard work on the 50/50 and shopping for the shelter. Thank you Outsiders MC for the GREAT job on the road guard. You guys are GREAT. One of the Portland Outsiders was ticketed by Tacoma's finest for blocking the road. I hope the Tacoma Police Department has a GREAT Holiday. WOW what a turn out for the RUN. We had about 200 bikes, 7 trikes and a bunch of trucks. Thank you one and all for your support.
Congrats to G-man from East Pierce County Chapter for winning that day’s 50/50 drawing and taking home $312. Merry Christmas to you my friend.
Next up is the Start the Year Off Right Ride. We will meet at the Wagon Wheel at 11:00 AM for breakfast and plan the run from there. After that we have the Valentine's Day/Anniversary Party on February 16, 2008 at the HAVEN. Hope to see you there.

The 30th Annual Olympia Toy Run took place under the threat of nasty weather. The crowd of attendees grew, slowly at first, to near record numbers. I know that many decided not to risk possible icy conditions, and stayed home. Others left before the parade began. I do not disparage them in any way for opting to stay on the safe side. There's no way to know for sure what the weather will do. Those that stayed for the entire event were surprisingly numerous and, at times, snow covered. The snow that fell wasn't enough to stick on the road, but made visibility a bit difficult in places. The parade through the Capitol and then to the Lake Park was witnessed by a huge crowd that braved the weather to watch those "crazy bikers" do their annual thing. I guess they figured if we could ride in it, they could stand around in it.

Toy runners gather at Fatso's in spite of the snow
A number of us made our traditional apres-run visit to Fatso's Bar and Grill for socializing, merriment and the drawing of the 50/50 tickets. Half of the money collected was destined for the purchase of gift items for the YWCA women's shelter, which is the beneficiary of the Tacoma Chapter Toy Run. The other half of the "pot" was divided into three equal prizes of $670. None of the three lucky winners were present, so they were contacted by phone to make arrangements for delivery. Next, all present tore up their tickets, finished their drinks and headed for home before Mother Nature could re-double her efforts to color us white. A big thank you to all who participated.
Return to Top of PageHi Everybody:
Motorcycling. Some call it a lifestyle and some call it a hobby. Whatever side you find yourself on you’re a BIKER. A BIKER with a choice. Unfortunately there are groups of people and organizations that want us off the road entirely. These groups will do what it takes to win this battle. We, on the other hand, have to fight back to keep our RIGHTS. NTSB and NHTSA has recommended nation-wide helmet use. Next will be the right to work on your own bike. You might be able to change oil but you will not be able to change your spark plugs because they are part of the emissions equipment.
The choice here is simple, NUMBERS COUNT. We need everybody to make appointments with their legislators on BLACK THURSDAY, January 17, 2008, so we can all have our freedom of choice. Do not let someone else express your opinion for you. Please take the time off work or whatever you can do to help out. The time is NOW to start planning your visit to Olympia. With the price of GAS going up and no end in sight, more and more people will be riding. Please do not let our rights, our freedom of choice, be stolen from us by the BUREAUCRACY.
Just back from the Tattered Flag Run. We had about twenty bikes and $54 for the side pot and great weather. Tracy Roe still sucks with low hand of 18 and for his trouble received a dozen roses that the Nisqually Tavern gave us. Chuck from the Nisqually Tavern gave us two dozen long steam roses and two free drink tickets which we gave away. Blender WON THE FLAG with 49 points and I won the side pot with 46 points. Blender received one dozen roses, Tracy Roe received the second dozen, Stephanie won the first drink ticket with 45 points and Stumper won the second drink ticket with 44 points. We are planning on giving Blender the flag at the next social meeting on November 21st, 2007 at the Right Spot at 7 PM or so. View the Tattered Flag page with Mailman's Road Captain wrap-up report.
On to chapter business. I hope everyone enjoyed the Halloween party. Bruce said we made some money on it which is always good. Thank you everybody who helped out. Next up are the toy runs. As for the Olympia Toy Run, the Chapter will meet up at Bailey's or Fatso's then join in the ride to the Capitol. As for the Tacoma Chapter Toy Run, check the flyer for details. Hope to see you there.
Sorry turn-out for the Highway Clean-up on October 20th. We really need to improve our turn out here. Next time will be January 5, 2008.

Hi Everybody:
Tuesday, November 6th is Election Day and I hope you take the time to vote.
By the time you read this our Halloween Party will be a fond memory. I hope everyone had a good time. Next up is the Tattered Flag that will start at the Roy Bar and Grill (in Roy) on November 10th. Breakfast is at 9:30 AM, leaving time is 11:00 AM. This ride is open to everyone but you need to be a Tacoma Chapter member to actually win the Flag. By the way, you can only win once so we will have a side pot just for fun for those who aren't in the running for the Flag. Hope to see you on the run.
Onto the Tacoma Chapter Toy Run - 50/50 tickets for the YWCA Woman's Shelter are on sale now. We will draw this 50/50 on December 1st at Fatso's after the Olympia Chapter Toy Run. You need not be present to win this 50/50. Just buy a $1.00 ticket OR MORE from someone who is selling them. 50% is going to the Women's Shelter in Tacoma and the other 50% will be divided up in thirds so there will be three equal winners. On the day of the Tacoma Chapter Toy Run on December 8th, we will have another 50/50 to be given away at The Right Spot after the run.
Speaking of the Tacoma Toy Run, it will start at the Haven Bar & Grill (125th & Pacific Ave, Parkland) at 10 AM. There's a breakfast special available by 9:30 AM, and the run leaves at 12:30 PM to go to the YWCA Women's Shelter at 504 Broadway in Tacoma at 1 PM. After the gifts have been given, we'll end it at the Right Spot in Fife at 3:30 PM and award that day's 50/50 drawing at 4:30 PM. Later that evening a party is being thrown at the Cedarwood (7404 Pacific Hwy E) to benefit the ABATE of WA State Legislative Fund, with bands, raffles, 50/50 and bar specials. Contact Lyle & Debby Coyle for more information at 360-897-8963 or 253-617-8843.

Hi There!
I hope everyone had a GREAT summer. Even if the August weather wasn't the best, we had a good turn out for the Memorial Run on August 18th. We tried a different way of doing the check points in the way we scored points. The first stop was a dice throw at the Junction City Grill (formerly Sally's) at the Roy Y. We need to stop there more often. Great place with new owners. As it turns out I had two different color tickets with me, so we used red for 50/50 and blue for the door prizes we collected along the way. Everyone received a free ticket for turning out.
The Junction City Grill donated some t-shirts, hats and gift certificates for the run. Jody's Outlaw Bar and Grill in Yelm was our second stop where we did a dart throw. The pub donated two gift certificates worth $25. Nice folks to stop and visit with. Stop by if you get a chance. Off to the third stop at the Headquarters Tavern in Mineral. Here we had a card draw for the score. They donated t-shirts and a hat for the door prizes. Off to Kapowsin and the fourth stop where we had a dart throw for the points and they donated two pizzas for the door prizes. The last stop was the River Road Lodge and the last dice throw for the total score. They donated ten different items for the door prizes. Check out Mailman's report right below this one to see the list of winners and their prizes.
Thank you one and all who helped on the run and those who turned out. A special thank you to Mailman and Helen for putting it together.
On to Tacoma Chapter’s elections: Bruce Ramsey is Treasurer, Peggy Miller is Secretary, Windy Blum is Deputy Coordinator and I'm Coordinator for another year. As for me, this will be my last year as Tacoma Chapter Coordinator. I would like to thank you for your support and confidence.
The Chapter will have a Halloween party at JJ's on South Tacoma Way on the 27th of October with no cover charge. See our website and flyer for details. Also the Tacoma Chapter Toy Run will be on December 8th, leaving for the Woman's Shelter from the Haven Pub on Pacific Avenue at 12:30 PM. The Outsiders will be doing road guard duty for us. Thank you Outsiders. Hope to see you there. One last thing - Mailman has stepped up to become Road Captain once again. Thank you Mailman, as the Chapter was in need of one.

The weather for the 19th Annual Memorial Run was pleasant, if not beautiful - better than the forecast had indicated. In spite of several other events occurring the same day, the turn out was not bad with around 70 bikes and several trikes. The route was complicated somewhat by a construction detour around a section of Mountain Highway, the sign for which was improperly placed. As far as I know all who wanted to, made it to Mineral.
At our third stop, the Headquarters Tavern in Mineral
The proprietors of all our stops donated door prizes ranging from T-shirts to free pizzas - 19 prizes in all. The River Road Lodge provided 2 tacos and a bowl of soup for $3. Very tasty and extremely affordable. The optional $5 game consisted of a dice roll at the Junction City Grill and the River Road Lodge, a dart throw at Jody's Outlaw Bar and the Kapowsin Tavern, and a card draw at the Headquarters Tavern. Total possible score was 85.
Good to see Astro, a previous Tacoma Chapter Coordinator
37 entries at $5 each made a pot of $185 which was broken down to $93 for first place, won with 65 points by Cindy Berger (Rat City Coordinator), $55 for second place, won with 57 points by Bruce Ramsey (Tacoma Chapter Treasurer/Membership), and $37 for third place, won with 55 points by Chuck Leach (Tacoma Chapter Member).
Ruth Clarke won $73 for the 50/50 drawing.
Door prizes were won in the following order by: Ruth Clarke, Roy Fisher, Shirley Whitting, Diana Covington, Debby Miller, Doc Covington, Lisa Clise, Chuck Leach, Neal Parrett, Tim Bronow, Bill Horn, Angie Miller, Jay Frazier, Pam Frazier, Cindy Berger, Mike Campbell, Tony Hosler, Mailman, and Linda Lou Thomas.
Following the drawings we gathered for a moment of silence for our departed brothers and sisters. Next, the smart ones rode home before it started raining and the rest of us stayed till it was pouring out. No biggie, the pants needed washing anyway. To all who participated, many thanks.

Hi Everybody!
Hope you all had a good safe summer this year. Not much on the agenda except chapter elections and looking into the Halloween Party. Still time to put your name in the hat. At the last Highway clean up (that we didn't do due to rain) Neal Parrett said he is going to take over Products from Jerry and Pam Otto. He said he will have them at the Memorial Run on the 18th of August and by the time you read this the run will be in the record books. Thank you Jerry and Pam for a job well done. You two have not only built up the products so we have some good stuff to sell but accounted for the inventory monthly. Thank you again.
As for the BOD: Lyle Coyle went with me to the meeting and I gave the board our $1200 check that Bruce Ramsey provided for the Dice Throw Run proceeds. A report was given by Ron Voss, East Side Deputy Coordinator, on the Spring Opener and it looks like we made some money this year thanks to you and your support. Check out the website and/or the newsletter for more info. If you want to be a vendor, get with Ron now as some people are already signing up for next year.
The Tacoma Chapter was voted "Chapter of the Year" at the BOD on July 29th - way to go Chapter! The reason for this honor was because we raised the largest amount of money for the State's Legislative Fund, by way of our annual Dice Throw Run, of which none has ever been spent - yet. At the STEAM meeting and awards party on October 13th the Chapter will be honored with this award. The STEAM meeting is a GREAT meeting if you want to learn about A.B.A.T.E. and you are all welcome to attend.

At the July 2007 business meeting the Chapter's Calendar was voted back to life. Co-editors will be Blender and Helen Wolfe, the same culprits who conjured up this website a couple years back. Look for it in October and every 3 months thereafter. It won't be as long as the old one, nor will it contain advertising, and it will be published quarterly rather than monthly, but the chapter felt that it needed to make a come back, especially for all of you who miss hanging the calendar on the fridge. If you have questions or ideas or would like to write an article for it, just contact me, Helen Wolfe, by email, or Tacoma Chapter's Coordinator, Jay Frazier. If you prefer to send in something by snail mail, click on the "Contact Us" button at the top or bottom of any web page on this site for the chapter address.
Hi Everybody!
Just back from Hollister and the 4th of July celebration in the birthplace of the American Biker, and what a party! I would like to thank Randy Coble for putting together yet another Great Ride. Six of us went down I-5 to Eugene, over to the coast and then down 101 from Florence to Leggett just south of the Redwood run site. Then onto Hwy 1, the Pacific Coast Highway, to San Francisco. If you are into riding curves this road is for you. We stayed two days in an R.V. campground in the small town of Celona. Great place just north of Fort Bragg. Donnie Ahola and Jim Harrison took a side trip and found yet another twisty road. Not a surprise, this area is full of twists and curves. If you get a chance to visit this neck of the woods, stop by Fort Bragg Custom Cycles and visit with J.P. This guy is a real card. Great place, shop and fun guy to talk with. This is just what the Dr. ordered for me. This is what its all about - the hobby we call motorcycling. Anyway, had a Great time. One last thing - if you are a camper and want to stay in an R.V. campground, on Hwy 152 about 10 miles out of Hollister is a Great place to stay. It’s a truck stop, 24 hr restaurant, fruit stand and winery on about 500 acres. We camped in the nut orchard. The place is called CASA de FRUTA.
As for the Spring Opener I thought we had a Great turn out. Fun was had by all. Results of the bike games appear further down this page. Also Beth Roach from W. Richmond won 3rd place for the plank ride but did not get her ribbon. She was #6 on a blue V-Rod. If someone knows her, please contact me so we can get it to her. I would like to thank one and all who took part in the Spring Opener and those who helped.
By the time you read this the Chapter Officer nominations will be open. Its not too late to put your name in the hat.
Also Mailman and Helen have once again stepped up to the plate and put together the Memorial Run for August 18th. The flyer is posted and you can read more about the Memorial Run on this website. Thanks you two. I've been just too busy to get things done but this one should be a hoot.
One last thing - Jerry Otto has informed me that he is resigning as products chairperson, therefore we will need to find a replacement for him. Thank You Jerry and Pam for a Great Job over the years. Its been a pleasure working with you two folks. All the best in the future.
'til Next Time,

Warning: There is currently a crackdown on "illegal" helmets being practiced by the State Patrol.
They have printed a special brochure on how to identify a "bogus" helmet, which they are giving out with the multitude of tickets they are currently writing. I went to court with a printed copy of the "helmet is a helmet" law and was informed by the trooper that his training allows him to identify a bogus helmet, and if there is a DOT sticker on one, then it has been fraudulently affixed and doesn't mean a thing. The judge readily agreed and found me guilty. That's a $112 moving violation. I was granted a deferred judgment, which if I have no violations for 6 months, it won't go on my driving record.
My advice is to wear a legal helmet (I refer to mine as a 'tard hat), because if you don't, you will eventually be cited. They won't hesitate to pull you over even if you haven't committed any other infraction. If you do get a ticket, by all means go to court. Some judges will respect the law as written. I'm told in retrospect that it wasn't a good idea to subpoena the officer, as judges tend to attach more credibility to the uniform than the to defendant.

Hi Everybody!
The results of the Dice Throw Run are Bob Cooper - first place, Spark Plug of EPCC (East Pierce County Chapter) - second place, Suzanne Brown - third place, and Tony Hosler - worst hand. SKCC (South King County Chapter) won the plaque for Most Supportive, Will Hanson won a $25 gift certificate to the Right Spot, and Snake of SKCC, Fat Boy, and Debbie Beckler each won a Spring Opener ticket. Don Cuda of EPCC won $450.50 in the 50/50 drawing. Porker and LaDonna had a raffle for Bill Horn and raised $125 for him. Check out these great pictures by Peggy Miller and Neal Parrett. Thank you to all who participated in the run and to those who helped. I hope you enjoyed it.
At the June business meeting we voted to round up the $1151.82 made on the Dice Throw Run to $1200 which will go to ABATE of Washington's State Legislative Fund, aka "the warchest". We also voted to move the July business meeting to Wednesday, July 11th as the 4th falls on our regular meeting night. Speaking of calendar dates, Tacoma Chapter's 2008 event schedule has been submitted to the state and is already posted on the chapter's web calendar.
Lynn Kerle, Porker and LaDonna's daughter, won the May Tattered Flag and so she has picked The Roy Bar and Grill for the start of the next Tattered Flag Run on November 10th, 2007. I won the side pot of $28. Nominations for the September Elections for Tacoma Chapter's Officers will open at the July business meeting. Feel free to put your name in the hat!

Hi There -
I'm sad to report of Brandy Horn passing on April 25th 2007 from a long battle with M.S. Some of the Chapter hooked up at Rollies Tavern followed by a group ride to the funeral. So sorry Bill. Please feel free to ask for help.
April 28th was the Board of Director's meeting in Yakima. The Spring Opener was the focal point. Once again if you work at the Spring Opener (other than gate or games duty) you will be reimbursed for your Spring Opener ticket. Your help is needed for this event so please do so if you can. Cleaning up your campsite would help out. Also I have Spring Opener tickets for sale. See me for advance tickets.
As for the Dice Throw Run, I'll report on that next issue. The Memorial Run will be August 18th. More to come on that as well. One last thing, chapter election nominations will open at the June business meeting and a new Road Captain is needed as well. Please feel free to put your name in the hat.

Hi Everybody!
Not much went on in March. South King County and East Pierce County Chapters had back-to-back runs. SKCC had their St Patty's Day Dart Run on the 17th and EPCC had their Bunny Run on the 24th. Both were "rain rides" and some of the Tacoma Chapter members joined in. It's fun to go on other chapter's runs to see how they put things on and to find out how they receive donations that go back to the people that support the run - besides that, it's fun to try and win a prize.
By the time you read this I will have been to the April Board of Directors' meeting in Yakima and I will have spring opener tickets for sale. Get ahold of me if you are interested. This year there will be member and non-member pricing. At the spring opener Tacoma Chapter is going to do the games and help is needed at the opener. PLEASE help out if you can. This is our party and it takes a lot of work to put it together. Hope to see you there.
May 12th is the Dice Throw Run and it will start at the Silver Dollar Bar at 9:30 AM, last Bike out is 11:00 AM. Check out the details on our web site and/or pickup a flyer. The stops are listed with phone numbers and times we will be there are on the calendar. Awards will be at The Right Spot at 5:30 PM sharp. Come join the fun! (Here's a map to the Right Spot)
The Tattered Flag will be May 19th. We will be starting at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant (11811 Pacific Ave S, Tacoma) at 9:30 AM and leaving at 11:00 AM. We will have a side pot for those who are not eligible to win the Flag, but you could win the Flag and the side pot as Paul, the current holder of the Flag, did last time out. If you are a Tacoma Chapter member you are eligible to win the Flag for 6 months and have your name on it permanently as a Tacoma Chapter WINNER, and you'll pick the start point for the next run.
One last thing; Chapter elections are in September so if you are interested in holding office in the Chapter now is the time to start thinking about it. If you would like to be a Road Captain, or maybe some other position, PLEASE feel free to put your name in the hat. The Chapter needs new blood and ideas to move forward.

Hi Everybody!
Just back from the spring swap meet where I found out Mike Campbell went into the Hospital on Feb. 25th with back pain. I was told he should be home on Monday the 5th. Best Wishes and get well soon. (See what happens when you quit smoking?)
I talked to Bruce Ramsey and he said his left knee is coming along ok, but his right is not doing as well. He said the scar tissue is keeping him from getting full motion. Hope to see him up and around soon.
The swap meet went well, I thought. Some good deals were made and fun was had by all at the party the night before. I will be making a bank deposit to reimburse the chapter for the space. Pam and I set up our table at the meet and some guy ran the table over with his truck so he rented a table for us from the hall and in reality worked out better as it was a bigger table. So that saved us $15, however now I have to go buy a new table.
As for the Freeze Your Butt Off Run that Rat City puts on, once again The Tacoma Chapter cleans up. Mike Campbell won $75 for high hand, Windy Blum won $50 for low hand (that I still owe him) and Pat Fry won the 50/50 which I think was $103. Way to go Chapter!
Our Valentine/Anniversary Party was fun. The raffle made $177 and the 50/50 made $117 for a total of $292 for this event. Jerry Otto purchased a cash box for products that was $21.43, year bars were $544 and we're working on the Highway clean up shirts. Also we are going to have 5 dozen shirts for our 25th Annual Dice Throw Run which is ready to go for the 12th of May so look for the flyers and check the Web site. Hell check the site anyway its cool.

Hi Everybody!
As I write this Bruce Ramsey is in the hospital with both knees replaced. He will be in therapy for a long time and I hope he will be able to ride in the Dice Throw Run May 12th. Best wishes Bruce and a speedy recovery.
The BOD that we hosted I think was a great success. Our bylaw proposal passed and so did the quorum requirement. The Black Thursday contest was withdrawn. We also passed the art work for the Spring Opener T-shirts. They are really cool. I think you will like them.
At the BOD, I decided to join the Moose Lodge and was inducted on January 22nd. The Moose buys you your first refreshment of choice and as I was enjoying mine, a man came up to me and said "I see you are wearing a sweatshirt with A.B.A.T.E. on it and did you know my brother-in-law?". I asked, "Who is your brother-in-law?" and he replied, "He was Taco Bob". As I picked up my jaw "Your brother-in-law was Taco?". He said "Yes, and my sister was Mary Beth". What a small world we live in. I was inducted to the Moose Lodge with the brother of a legend; Mary Beth - wow. I will never forget that. Taco and Mary Beth passed away on Highway 410 on the way to Yakima in 1993. He was the long time Director of Tacoma HOG and A GREAT GUY and Mary Beth was A GREAT LADY.
On to Chapter business:
Here's a photograph of Representative Dan Roach (center) with my wife Pam & I at left and at top right is SKCC Coordinator Jerry Fox and Mike Campbell in front.
One last thing: Plans have been made for the Memorial Run August 18, 2007. This one is going to be fun. Hope you can make it.
'til Next Time,

I arrived at the capitol at 9:30 so as to have plenty of time to "get up to speed" on the issues prior to my first appointment at 10:30 with Representative Conway. The situation is a bit confusing, with everyone scrambling around trying to get sponsors to introduce the bills we want. Some had already been introduced, others were in the process, and still others won't even make the first step. Part of our individual lobbying effort was to try to sign up sponsors for our bills. I succeeded in getting Rep. Conway's signature on the mal-functioning signal bill. My other Rep., Steve Kirby was already signed onto several of our bills. My Senator, Rosa Franklin, sounded interested in supporting anti-profiling pending receipt of more information on the extent of the problem.
I would estimate that we had around 80 members on hand, some briefly and others pretty much all day. Generally there would be one appointment for a given legislator, and several people would go together as a delegation to each meeting. An interesting and enjoyable day.
The highlight of the day was when the State Senate was called into special floor session for the specific purpose of adopting a proclamation in memory and recognition of the wonderful, late Karen Bolin. Several Senators made speeches extolling the dedication and effectiveness of this great lady - quite touching.
The following are the seven main areas we focused on:
Following this activity filled day, we adjourned to the Gwinwood for dinner (pizza, salad), drinks, and armchair quarterbacking. Hopefully our efforts will bear fruit.
Return to Top of PageHi Everybody!
I would like to thank everybody who helped out on Tacoma Chapter's 27th Annual Toy Run: The Outsiders, Bandidos and Gypsy Jokers for a GREAT JOB on road guard, The Haven and The Right Spot for having us, the people who rode on a somewhat rainy day, the Puyallup Tribe for the generous donation of $5000 and everyone who donated to this cause. Also thank you Deb Coyle for all your hard work on this event. It’s the people like you folks that make Christmas what it is and that help out the kids. Check out the Toy Run page for pictures and comments.
In last month's business meeting we voted and approved to move the July 2007 business meeting to the Tuesday the 3rd. Also we voted to have a table at the Spring Swap Meet on Sunday, March 4th 2007 so bring your stuff if you want to sell it. Contact me at 253-862-1481, or e-mail me, if you are interested. This is also on the calendar on this web site along with updated info as events develop. Thanks again.

January 1st, 2007
It was a gray, drippy day, and not unlike many of Earth's inhabitants, appeared a bit hung-over. Even so, a group of six riders, dedicated to the principle that riding is the best way to start the new year off right, met at the Wagon Wheel for breakfast. We were joined by three others who were dedicated to starting the new year neither hungry nor wet.
At the crack of noon the stalwart six mounted up and hit the road, bound for the Steilacoom Pub & Grill, passing through picturesque villages such as Roy, Yelm, Nisqually and DuPont. The timing of the stop was perfect, as the heaviest rain of the day fell while we were inside arguing Hillary vs. Obama vs. McCain vs. Edwards.
Next, we saddle up and travel north along the ever-beautiful Puget Sound to the world famous Gold Fish Tavern where the fire was burning warmly in the fireplace, a very pleasant surprise.
None of our group being big fans of riding at night in the rain, we left the Gold Fish and, after riding the Ruston Way waterfront, went our separate ways, to do our separate things, the year having been started right. Around 50 In-the-Wind miles were gained.
