OFFICER & COMMITTEE REPORTS

Previous Meeting Minutes:
Minutes from the September meeting were read.
Motion was made to accept the minutes as read. M/S/P

Treasurer’s Report:
Motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s Report as read. M/S/P
Motion was made to renew the MRF Periodical. M/S/P

Membership Report:
Current members are 118, New members are 0, Three Month Grace are 8 for a total of 126 members.

Adopt-A-Highway:
Our next Garbage Pick up is set for November 15th, breakfast at Junction City 9:30am, clean up 11:30am, ride after clean up at approx 1:00pm.

Legislative:
State Level: Nothing noted.
National Level: Modified HIPAA Bill that insurance companies must disclose reasons for denial.

Products Report:
Motion was made to accept the Products Report as read. M/S/P

Quarter Master:
Accepted as read.

Road Captain:
Presentation of Road Captain patch and hat from Mailman to Boris.

Website:
Contributions are greatly appreciated. Email to Helen any ideas, notes or stories you would like to see on the site. We are a folder on the State Website, this has posed some issues recently, there is a possibility that they may find another host for the State site. We may need to find our own host for a “Tacoma ABATE” site.

Motion was made that whatever server or host the state chooses, any personal business or business associates of Dutch Phillips should be excluded, due to a conflict of interest. M/S/P

Tri-Chapter Halloween Party - Party will be held November 1st at the Nifty Fifty Pub and Grill on Canyon Road in Puyallup starting at 8 pm. Some ideas for the Door Prizes were brought up as: Amtrak roundtrip to Portland, Columbia River boat trip, etc. Please let Lyle know of any ideas that you may have for others.

Valentine’s Day/Anniversary PartyBlender (blenderbob1@yahoo.com) is looking for pictures from the past so that she can put together a slide show for the party, please send her any you want to share.

Tacoma Toy Run – Blender will make the flyer for this run. We will start at 10:00am at The Haven (breakfast special starts at 9:30am.) Ride will end at The Right Spot Tavern in Fife at around 3:30pm. 50/50 drawing will be held at 4:30pm.

Tattered Flag – November 8th starting point is at Krickett's on 148th (14815 Pacific Ave, Tacoma) last bike out 11:00am.

NEW BUSINESS

Board of Directors:
ABATE of Washington's Quarterly Board of Directors Meeting will be held on Sunday Oct 19th at 11 AM at the Gwinwood in Lacey. The Seminar to Educate and Motivate (STEAM) will be held Saturday Oct 18th. Friday is a night to sit around and get know other members with a no-host bar provided by North Kitsap Chapter.

Budget Proposals:
Motion was made to suspend action on budget for 2009 STEAM Awards Ceremony pending receipt of proposal info. M/S/P
Black Thursday – proposed budget $3,800, motion was made to accept. M/S/P
Public Relation Officer – proposed budget $750, motion was made to accept. M/S/P
Safety & Education Budget – proposed budget $3,900, motion was made to accept. M/S/P
Spring Opener – proposed budget $21,850, motion was made to accept. M/S/P
Fall Swap Meet – proposed budget $6,220, motion was made to accept. M/S/P
Spring Swap Meet – proposed budget $8,500, motion was made to accept. M/S/P

Proposed Changes to By-Laws:
Proposal to change several By-Laws wording - All or Nothing. Motion was made to reject proposed By-Law changes because it isn’t broken down individually to vote on each item. M/S/P

Removal of 9.2 – Bi-annual accounting review, Biennial accounting review. Motion was made to accept. M/S/Failed

Removal of 3.2.6.2 – Chapters missing 2 BOD meetings in a row lose voting rights until 2 in a row are attended. Motion was made to accept. M/S/P

Request to make all accounts in the name of “Abate of Wa” checks signed by the State Treasurer plus another member – OR – State Coordinator and other member. Motion was made to reject. M/S/P

Blender asked to propose for Legislature: Those who have disabled placards should be able to keep the “two” placards allowed for vehicles and have stickers for their motorcycles as well. Membership Recruiter Incentive Program is being proposed. Motion was made to reject. M/S/P

Runs & Events / Good of the Order:
Anyone interested in working the International Motorcycle Show membership booth please contact Mike Campbell (57071@msn.com) for name tags. Discount tickets for the show will be available at the November meeting.

Sunday Breakfast rides to start again on October 26, first breakfast ride will meet at Junction City. Breakfast @ 9:30; ride to start at 11:00am. Decision was made to make this ride an “In the Wind” ride.

Spring Opener 2009 will not be held at Toppenish; new location is the fairgrounds in Goldendale, Washington.
