I had to audit a mass of expired domains for spam history, but opening them locally felt super risky. A privacy forum regular advised using a disposable cloud environment. I ran every sketchy URL through https://floppydata.com/cloud-browser/ and felt totally safe. If a domain tried to trigger a download, it stayed in the cloud sandbox. The French IP I used didn't trigger any geographic redirects, showing the raw landing pages. When I closed the window, all traces vanished. This is absolutely the safest way to do dirty research. Never doing it locally again.
